Squishy the Squash

Nammy gave Kylie a butternut squash to take home this weekend and she has been dragging it all around the house. We finally named it Squishy and Daddy even gave him a face. Tonight before bed she was pushing Squishy in the stroller and singing ABC to it.
It will be a very sad day when Squishy will need to be thrown away, but for now we welcome him/her/it into our home with open arms.

Lexi girl

Taylor is growing like a weed and is the sweetest baby ever. She loves to look at faces and every time she seems me or Jonathan, she squeals with excitement. Because she is so social we are still having a hard time putting her down without a huge protest. She insists on being carried everywhere. I don't mind most of the time but it is hard to get housework done. She is pretty good about taking naps during the day so I usually try to time both girl's naps at the same time. So far it's worked out pretty well but instead of getting chores done, I usually cuddle up next to Tay and nurse her until we both are asleep.

My lexi girl will be 5 months in couple of weeks. WOW!! That is a hard one to swallow. I guess I still think of her as a newborn. Next thing I know she will be crawling then walking within the next 7 months. I wish babies would stay babies a little longer. A year is not enough time.

Halloween 2009

Halloween was a blast this year. Kylie went as a purple fairy and Taylor was a pink and yellow flower. We had some great friends come over trick or treating with us and later that night we had a little party with a spooky movie.

Too Cute

We are getting ready for Halloween and I'm pretty sure that I'm more excited than anyone else probably because it's also my birthday. Growing up my parents made sure that the holiday never overshadowed my big day. Jonathan tries to make sure that everyone knows its my birthday first and foremost before anything else. I always thought it was so sweet of him but the more I think about it, I don't ever want to take away the excitement of Halloween from my children. After a long discussion, we decided that Mom's birthday will be celebrated the day before. I think this works out best for everyone. I still get MY day and the kids won't have to worry about feeling guilty if they ever forget.

We carved pumpkins tonight and Kylie painted the pumpkin she picked out a couple of days ago at Linder Farms.

Taylor didn't really get into it but I did take some cute pictures of her as well because she is too cute.

Tator Tot

Taylor weighs 10 lbs and is sleeping 7 hours straight through the night. She is still in our bedroom and sleeps with me most of the time but will be moving in Kylie's room within the next month.

pumpkin patch

Our trip the the pumpkin patch was very interesting this year. It was so cold that I couldn't feel my face, Kylie didn't want to walk anywhere and Taylor wasn't a happy camper either. We tried to make the best of what we had so we gritted our teeth and proceeded with the festivities. There was a HUGE storm that night and the wind and rain started really coming down just as we were pulling out of the parking lot.

introducing...KYLIE!

November 6, 2007- After 18 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing, Kylie Evelyn Ross came into the world. It was love at first sight! The poor thing had such a big goose egg on her head because she came face up. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I was instantly drawn to her big beautiful almond shaped eyes. I've never seen a baby have such dark yet bright eyes before.... truly magical. After she was born, and things had settled down, I started losing blood and fast! They immediately rushed me into recover and started sticking me with needles and shoving pills down my throat to stop the hemorrhaging. A few hours later when the nurses were sure I was in the clear, they asked me to stand up and try walking to the bathroom. When I stood up, I collapsed into Jonathan arms, blood gushed out onto the floor and all over Jonny. Again, they poked needles in my legs and gave me medicine through my IV and started prepping me for a blood transfusion. The bleeding started to slow down just in time that I didn't have to go into the operating room.
After 10 hours of agony I finally got to hold my sweet baby. I enjoyed cuddling with my new infant and embraced the realization that I'm a new Mom. Jonathan and I held her for 3 hours straight and didn't put her down. I can still remember her scent. I know it sounds weird but she had the sweetest smelling head, it reminded me of pink carnations.
It's been a joy having her in our lives and we couldn't picture it without her.

look at those big eyes!!

Sleepy Mommy

Kylie really enjoys watching movies in her room and wanted me to watch one with her the other day. I was tired from staying up with Taylor all night so I crawled into Kylie's crib and snuggled in next to her while watching Finding Nemo.

Jonny took this picture when he got home from school

Very Yummy

Fall is here!!! My absolute favorite season has finally arrived which means lots and lots of cooking. I've been researching new recipes and Jonathan has kindly offered to be the official taste tester for everything I create. I didn't even have to twist his arm. He rates them 1-10 (10 being the best)
We've been blessed to have family and friends bring over fresh vegetable from their gardens and I've been working like crazy trying to use them up before they spoil thus most of the things I've cooked have very fresh ingredients.

Here is one of my creations

SPAGHETTI WITH FRESH VEGETABLES rating- 8.5

1/2 lb red and yellow cherry tomatoes
1 small zucchini cubed

1 small onion minced
1 medium pepper sliced
1 tbsp fresh parsley
1 tsp basil
1tsp Italian seasoning

1tsp garlic salt
1 can tomato sauce
1/4 tsp crushed red peppers
1/2 lb angel hair pasta
salt and pepper to taste

cook pasta according to package
large saucepan sweat onions zucchini and peppers until tender
add cherry tomatoes and seasonings cook for 5 mins
add pasta and tomato sauce
plate and top with salt, pepper and parsley
